Audi Star Creation 2012 - Soravit Kaewkamon's Menswear Collection Love and Friendship
Soravit Kaewkamons Menswear Collection Love and Friendship

23 year old Thai designer Soravit Kaewkamon’s menswear collection Love and Friendship was visually impactful with the embroidered feathers

Soravit’s collection is inspired by her belief in the advantages of living in a tightly knit community, which includes the spirit of cooperation and looking out for one another.  She uses smooth shapes, defined cuts and strong structure, fashioned after unisex cuts popular in the 1990s as well as materials such as woven fabrics and leather that gives her androgynous pieces a masculine edge.  She also incorporated some patterns and prints inspired by the hornbill, a symbol of friendship.  She has won several fashion design competitions in Thailand, including two awards at the Saha Group Bangkok Young Designer Awards 2010 and a win for her menswear collection at SINGHA LIFE 2011.   She has a degree in Decorative Arts from the Silpakorn University in 2011.

32 year old Korean designer Ko Young Ji’s womenswear collection Li Jin drew on the traditional blues, greens and pinks of a saekdong and merged them with the Western fabric resulting in a collection that came across as commercially very viable.

Young Ji’s grandmother was a hanbok designer.  She first heard of Li Jin, the very first court dancer of Joseon Dynasty-era Korea who moved to Paris to pursue her passion in the arts, in a novel she read.  Ko studies at France’s l’Ecole Superieure des Arts et techniques de la Mode (ESMOD).  She decided the dancer would form the inspiration of her collection.

Ko’s crations have been retailing at Korean multi-label shops since 2010.
