First Indoor Skydiving World Championships at iFly Singapore

16 May 2012, Singapore – iFly Singapore will host its first indoor skydiving world championships at the world’s largest wind tunnel facility on Sentosa Island. From 13 to 16 December 2012, the four day event is expect to attract 400 flyers from around the world to compete in professional and amateur categories with cash and prizes worth over S$150,000 up for grabs.

One of the highlights for the event, Singapore’s Team Firefly will be sending 10 year old Kyra Poh and 11 year old Choo Yixuan to compete with the adults in the professional category. The girls are set to embark on professional training in their bid to represent Singapore at the world championship. To date, the girls are able to perform stunts ranging from the basic Belly Fly to the complex Sit Fly, Head Down and the highly challenging 2-way vertical, 2-way freefly skydiving formations in the wind tunnel.

Registration for the event will open second half of 2012, the disciplines for professional and amateur category as follows:

  • 2-way freefly
  • Neofreestyle

Amateur Category:

  • 4-way formation skydiving
  • 2-way freefly
  • Kids (Neofreestyle)
