28 September 2011, Singapore – Messe Berlin (Singapore) the organiser of the Asian Travel Market trade Show ITB Asia has launched a social media project to help raise funds for Operation Smile Singapore.
Members of the travel trade attending ITB Asia 2011 can purchase a smiling, bendable rubber figurine in the signature ITB orange known as “ITB Asia Stickman”. 500 of these custom-made stickmen will be available for adoption at this year’s show at a donation sum of choice.
Photos of these little orange models in different cities as they travel the world for business or leisure can be uploaded onto a dedicated ITB Asia Stickman photoblog (http://www.facebook.com/itbasia) or via email at stickman@itb-asia.com.
ITB Asia will pledge US$10 for each of the first 250 photographs uploaded, to Operation Smile, a non-profit, volunteer medical services organisation that provides reconstructive facial surgery to indigent children and young adults. This will go towards funding approximately seven life-changing operations.
Around 7,000 delegates from 60 countries are expected to attend the show this year. The ITB Asia Stickman Project will take place over a year from 19 October 2011 until ITB Asia 2012 – or when the target of 250 photographs is reached.
ITB Asia is a partner event of TravelRave.
