27 June 2011, Singapore – Singapore’s retail sales for Samsung Galaxy S II kicked off last Friday, 24 June 2011. In just the first weekend, all units were snapped up island wide. The flagship Android-powered GALAXY S II is the successor to the best-selling GALAXY S, which has sold a record 14 million units globally since its debut last year.
Mr Winston Goh, Product Marketing Manager – Telecomunications at Samsung Asia Pte Ltd said, “We are delighted with the unexpected demand for the GALAXY S II and see this as strong validation from our customers on the quality and attractiveness of our mobile phones.”
“This is an unprecedented record and definitely cements Samsung’s position as the top provider of Android smartphones according to value, based on recent analyst data. The GALAXY S II reinforces Samsung’s commitment to integrating the best of design and leading technology for customers and affirms our conviction in the strong growth opportunities for our mobile phones,” added Mr. Goh.
The GALAXY S II (16GB) is available at all telecommunications operators at S$998 (inclusive of GST), without line contract. Additional stocks will be distributed and replenished within the next few days.
