5 May 2011, Hong Kong – Hong Kong was voted as one of the top 10 travel destinations worldwide and the best in Asia in the 2011 Travelers’ Choice Destinations awards by TripAdvisor. Ranked alongside New York, London and Paris, Hong Kong is the only Asian city amongt the 10 best destinations.
TripAdvisor is a travel site offering trusted advice from real travellers and a wide variety of travel choices and planning features. More than 300 global destinations were rated in the Travelers’ Choice Destinations awards and the winning destinations have been determined based on both travellers’ opinions of the favourite places, as well as the popularity of the destinations.
Hong Kong has been described by TripAdvisor as a city of endless shopping, big-city nightlife and delicious dim sum, besides offering spectacular night views.
On a separate note, Hong Kong creates awareness at Hong Kong International Airport of the once-a-year Cheung Chau Bun Festival. For three consecutive days from 7 May 2011, the “Lucky Bun Tower” mascot has been taking photographs with visitors at the arrival hall of the airport.
Hong Kong Tourism Board continues to bundle and promote four traditional Chinese festivals in April and May to visitors under its “Hong Kong Cultural Celebrations” promotion which includes the birthday celebrations of Tin Hau, Lord Buddha and Tam Kung.
