April 2011, Singapore – From 1st July 2011, Singapore Airlines will fly the Airbus A380 superjumbo on the Singapore-Tokyo Narita-Los Angeles route. Originally scheduled for 27 March 2011, the launch was postponed following the 11 March earthquake in Japan. Los Angeles is Singapore Airline’s eight destination to receive scheduled A380 services. Some of Singapore Airlines’ other A380 destinations include Hong Kong, London, Melbourne, Paris, Sydney, Tokyo and Zurich.
Singapore Airlines has 11 A380-800 in its total fleet of 105 aircraft with 8 on firm order/lease and 6 on option/purchase rights. Singapore Airlines’ passenger route network covers 63 destinations in 34 countries.
