23rd March 2011, Singapore – Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY is introduced into the market with many industry firsts.

It is the first smartphone in the market that comes with a dedicated game control pad and embedded with Adreno graphics processor for super fast graphics (at 60 fps), delivering the ultimate smartphone gaming experience. Running on the latest Android version, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), Xperia PLAY is also the first PlayStation Certified phone that will have access to more than 150,000 apps available on Andriod Marketplace, but also PlayStation game content provided by PlayStation Suite Interactive which will be available later this year.

The Xperia PLAY’s ergonomic design makes it fit into your palm comfortably, be it in Portrait Mode for smartphone usage or during gaming mode while using the game pad. The gaming buttons are nicely spaced out and give a good feeling that it’s too cramped on the phone’s small body.

The Xperia Play will come preloaded with six game titles for your immediate enjoyment. These are the six titles:

  • Star Battalion (Gameloft)
  • FIFA 10 (EA Games)
  • Madden NFL (EA Games)
  • SIM 3 (EA Games)
  • Crash Bandicoot (SCEA)

For the launch of Xperia PLAY, Sony Ericsson also confirmed that there will be more than 50 game titles made specially for Xperia PLAY’s unique gaming experience to be available in Android Marketplace. PlayStation fans will be able to find familiar game titles like Syphon Filter(Shooter) and Wild Arms(RPG) by Sony Computer Entertainment.

Gameloft will be launching their new title, BackStab, exclusively on Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY for one month, capitalizing on Xperia PLAY’s outstanding graphic capabilities and revolutionary controls. BackStab will be available in Q2 2011, so expect to see more exciting titles in the near future, by game developers like EA Games, SCEA and many more.
