9 February 2011, Singapore – Come 22 February 2011, Indonesia’s national airline, Garuda Indonesia will move from Singapore Changi International Airport’s Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 which was operational on 9 January 2008.
Garuda International currently operates eight daily direct flights from Singapore to Jakarta and Bali as well as other international destinations including Amsterdam, Beijing, Shanghai, Sydney, Melbourne, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo via Jakarta.
“This is our first move since we started our Singapore operations in Terminal 1 when Changi International Airport opened 30 years ago. Terminal 3 is a state-of-the-art facility recognised as one of the best airport terminals in the world. With this move, our passengers can expect a more pleasant airport experience with improved facilities and higher standards of service. The new terminal is also better equipped to meet our future expansion plans,” said Risnandi, Senior General Manager, Area Asia, Garuda Indonesia.
Passengers can enjoy upgraded passenger facilities, improved check-in area, a world class shopping experience, the world’s first airport Butterfly Garden or dining at the numerous bars and restaurants. The see-through layout concept of Terminal 3 allows you to move around with ease and minimum dependence on signage,
Terminal 3 provides 28 additional aerobridge gates, increasing the total number of aerobridge gates in Changi Airport to 92 with eight of the aerobridge gates are designed for the new generation of large aircraft, the A380.
Passengers making inter-terminal flight connections at Changi Airport will find it a breeze to transfer between the three terminals with the Skytrain system which has three stations in Terminal 3.
Executive class passengers will still be able to check in at the Jet Quay CIP terminal and be whisked to Terminal 3 for boarding before departure.
Garuda Indonesia has undergone a remarkable transformation across its safety, product and front-line service standards in its bid to become one of Asia’s most successful airlines. The airline was upgraded to a four-star rating by Skytrax Research and recognized as Asia’s leading service quality airline according to a recent survey conducted by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA).
Garuda Indonesia also recently signed an agreement to join the SkyTeam airline alliance in 2012.
